Victorias LGU inks partnership with BAYI to empower women

Victorias City Mayor Javier Miguel Benitez signed a partnership with BAYI Inc. to implement the Bayi Tiangge, a women’s capacity building program in Victorias City, on Tuesday, July 9.

Creating economic spaces and partnerships, empowering local women in MSMEs through capacity-building sessions, and encouraging their participation in local government services and programs are some of the objectives of the Bayi Tiangge Program, a press release from Victorias City said.

The program will cover the implementation of Bayi Tiangge’s Feminist Business Model Canvas with Angat Bayi LGUs, mobilization of women MSMEs and training, including the creation of Bayi Circles, mobilization of women MSMEs, consultation, assessment, and post-training activities, it added.

BAYI Inc. Co-Executive Director Ma. Himaya Tamayo-Gutierrez joined Benitez in the ceremonial signing of the memorandum of agreement with the Chief of Staff to the City Mayor, Dr. Joselito Diaz, and Training Consultant Rachel Carera-Leones as witnesses.

Benitez, in his message, emphasized the LGU’s commitment to supporting women entrepreneurs through various initiatives and partnerships.

“If women entrepreneurs are successful in business, it will help the overall economy and will increase the quality of life of all Victoriasanons,” he said.

Gutierrez emphasized the importance of empowering women through targeted interventions and innovative programs and expressed her excitement about the collaboration with the LGU.

BAYI Inc. Training Consultant Leones discussed the BAYI Women’s Economic Empowerment Program (EmpowHER) which aids women entrepreneurs in various cities and municipalities.

“We wanted to look at the women entrepreneur as a holistic person,” she said, noting that women are beyond their business.

The event was attended by Victorias City councilors, department heads, and Nikki Cares Foundation president Dominique Lopez Benitez.

The collaborative project of Victorias LGU and BAYI Inc. will run until December 31.*
