The Victorias City Social Welfare and Development Office distributed 1,442 food packs to 721 beneficiaries of the Food-for-Work Program at Don Alejandro Acuña Yap Quiña Cultural Center on Thursday, April 25.
A total of 220 ERPAT members, 207 local farmers and fisherfolks, and 294 solo parents received two food packs each, a press release from Victorias City Information Office said.
Mayor Javier Miguel Benitez joined the distribution and expressed his gratitude to all the program beneficiaries and implementers.
He emphasized how the initiative of the LGU has enabled community members to actively participate in local government projects, fostering resilience and adaptive capacities in the face of potential disasters.
Food-for-Work Program is a short-term project of the CSWD to provide temporary employment to distressed members of the community, especially, the members of the city’s vulnerable sectors.
Beneficiaries dedicated four days to community service in various barangays from April 19 to 22.
This direct provision of assistance underscores the steadfast commitment of the City to fortifying resilience and providing ample opportunities to its community members, the press release said.*
