USLS, DepEd-Bacolod ink School Heads Academy MOA

An agreement that would provide scholarship grants to 50 qualified public school teachers and school heads in Bacolod City was signed between the University of St. La Salle and the Department of Education (DepEd) – Bacolod City Division, recently.

The School Heads Academy is a landmark scholarship program that aims to strengthen and upgrade the knowledge, attitudes, capability and leadership skills of the DepEd scholars, a press release from USLS said Monday, January 23.

Signing the MOA were USLS President and Chancellor Br. Joaquin Severino Martinez and Assistant Schools Division Superintendent Reynaldo G. Gico, Office of the Schools Division Superintendent OIC.

DepEd- Bacolod City Division will cover the three-semester cost of the scholarship program, which includes tuition and other fees, the MOA states.

Meanwhile ,USLS will offer its facilities and resources as well as serve as the training ground for the School Heads Academy.

USLS will also oversee the overall administration and management, based on the terms and conditions stated in the project proposal.

In attendance during the MOA signing were USLS administrators: Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs Annabelle C. Balor, Vice Chancellor for Mission and Development Br. Normandy Dujunco, Assistant Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs Dr. River Ureta and Graduate School Dean Dr. Janice Bolen.

Also joining the MOA signing from DepEd were Assistant Schools Division Superintendent Peter J. Galimba, Chief Education Supervisor- Curriculum Implementation Division Janalyn B. Navarro and Chief Education Supervisor – School Governance and Operations Division Gregorio C. Moyani.*
