USLS agribiz dep’t head new provincial agriculturist

The Agribusiness Department chairperson of the University of Saint La Salle (USLS) in Bacolod City is assuming the post of Negros Occidental provincial agriculturist on February 21.

Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson has appointed Dr. Edmundo Raul Causing to the post, which will be subject to the approval of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan, Provincial Administrator Rayfrando Diaz said Wednesday, February 16.

Dina Gensola is the current officer-in-charge of the Office of the Provincial Agriculturist. She has held the post since former provincial agriculturist Japhet Masculino retired in July last year.

Causing was the farm manager of the USLS Granada Agribusiness Farm, and held numerous positions as director and consultant of various private sector agriculture programs.

He is also the manager of his family-owned farm.

Causing has a Bachelor’s Degree in Agriculture major in Animal Science from the University of the Philippines in Los Baños, and a Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Master’s Degree in Business Administration, and a Doctorate Degree in Business Management from USLS.

As a USLS college professor, he has taught subjects in animal science, crop science, crop protection, economics, business management, soil science, entomology and farm operations.

He has also been a lecturer on sugarcane field operations, basic farming technologies and diversified farming.*
