Unity urged in battle for change; Guv thanks Kanlaon frontliners  

Negros Occidental and Bacolod City officials at their Independence Day rites On Wednesday.* 

Negros Occidental Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson and Bacolod Mayor Alfredo Abelardo Benitez   called for unity in the battle for change for a better Philippines at Independence Day rites on Wednesday, June 12. 

“Let us all work together to create a society in which no Filipino is left behind      and where every individual has the freedom, through equal opportunities, to achieve personal advancement and contribute to nation building,”  Lacson said in his speech at the provincial government’s Independence Day rites  at the Capitol Park and Lagoon in Bacolod City. 

Benitez, in his speech at the Bacolod Independence Day rites, said “our changings times demand our transformation to become primary actors, not just spectators, of development.”    

 “Our independence is more than just a date on the calendar, it is a constant reminder of our solemn duty to preserve our liberty, promote inclusive development, and work for the betterment of the lives of all Filipinos. To achieve these objectives, we must remain unified as a nation and transcend our self-interests, political differences, and regional, cultural, and social divisions,” Lacson also said. 

“Let us cultivate a culture of invention, creativity, and even entrepreneurship to drive our nation forward,” he added. 

Lacson also  thanked the  men and women who have served the  with dedication and selflessness, particularly in light of the recent eruption of Kanlaon, citing the  troops, healthcare workers, emergency responders, volunteers and public servants.*
