UNDOC planning to stage five-day transport strike

The United Negros Drivers and Operators Center in Bacolod City is planning to stage a 5-day strike this month amid the rising prices of fuel, UNDOC secretary general Diego Malacad said Thursday, March 3.

He said they are informing various stakeholders in the city of their plan so they will be prepared before the strike is staged.

Their four demands are the suspension of the 12 percent value added tax on fuel, the holding off of the imposition of excise tax, a halt to the phasing out of older public utility vehicles, and an increase in fare rates by P2.50, he said.

He said since January diesel prices have gone up nine times or by P2.50 per liter.*
