Unattended  lighted candles trigger fires: 14 houses destroyed, 8 damaged

Unattended lighted candles triggered two fires that destroyed 14 houses and damaged 8  in Bacolod City on  Wednesday and Thursday, Nov. 5 and 6, the city fire marshal said.

The fires hit houses made of light materials in areas identified as red zones,  Bacolod Fire Marshal  Jenny Mae  Masip said.

She called on the public to avoid using candles and leaving them unattended.

Nine houses were destroyed and six were damaged in Purok Riverside, Barangay Banago, Bacolod City, at 10:56 p.m. Wednesday. Damage was  placed at P100,000.

Five houses destroyed and two damaged in Purok Paghidaet, Brgy Tangub, Bacolod City, 12:38 a.m. Thursday. Damage  was placed f P75,000.*
