
Three ukay-ukay vendors were injured when their pickup truck hit a parked dump truck along the national highway in Brgy. Tapi, Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental, Thursday evening, Dec. 18.
The Kabankalan City Police Station said it happened at around 6:30 p.m. in Purok Acasia injuring the 42-year-old pickup driver and two passengers aged 69 and 38.
Police said a Fuso dump truck loaded with sugarcane was temporarily parked along the highway with a warning device in place.
The police said the dump truck driver was about to leave so he removed the warning device and boarded the vehicle.
At the same time, a Mazda Bongo pickup with railings accidentally hit the rear of the dump truck.
Police identified the injured passengers as ukay-ukay vendors from Himamaylan City.
All injured occupants of the pickup were rushed to the Lorenzo Zayco District Hospital.
The driver of the dump truck was taken into police custody for proper disposition as authorities continue their investigation into the incident.*
