
Two more congressmen and five board members of Negros Occidental were proclaimed winners at the Social Hall of the Capitol in Bacolod City on Wednesday, May 14.
The Provincial Board of Canvassers proclaimed former representative Julio Ledesma IV and Rep. Alfredo Marañon III the winning congressmen of the first and second districts, respectively.




Also proclaimed winning board members were Marxlen dela Cruz and Araceli Somosa – 1st District, Arthur Christopher “Atoy” Marañon – 2nd District, Rita Gatuslao – 5th District and Jeffrey Tubola – 6th District.
They were the last provincial and congressional winners to be proclaimed in the province.
Voter turn-out was high in the Negros Island Region, NIR Commission on Elections Assistant Regional Director Jossil Macute said.
The voter turnout was 83.22 percent in Negros Occidental, which means 1,369,632 voters voted, he said.
The voter turnout in Negros Oriental was 85.23 percent or 831,963 voters, and in Siquijor it was 91.84 percent or 74,758 voters, Macute said.*
