
Two men die in vehicular accidents in Ilog and Silay City, Negros Occidental, on Sunday, Dec. 21.
In Ilog town, the police said an unidentified man, estimated to be around 40 years old, was found dead along the road in Sitio Biaren, Brgy. Manalad, at around 5:20 a.m.
The Ilog police said they received a report from the local Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office about a man who was allegedly hit by a vehicle in the area.
Responding officers found the victim lying on the side of the road, with injuries indicating he had been run over by a heavy vehicle.
Witnesses told police that the victim had a mental illness and was often seen walking along the road between Brgy. Linao in Kabankalan City and Sitio Biaren in Ilog.
In Silay City a 38-year-old man died after his motorcycle crashed into a concrete wall at Hacienda Gamboa, Brgy. Guimbala-on, at around 2 p.m.
Police identified the victim as a resident of Hacienda Macamig III in Brgy. Bagtic, Silay City, and the driver of a Suzuki Smash 110 motorcycle.
Investigation showed that the motorcycle was traveling from Barangay Patag toward Silay City proper when the driver lost control, hit a concrete wall, and fell into a cemented ditch.
The victim sustained serious injuries and was rushed to the Teresita Lopez Jalandoni Provincial Hospital, where he was declared dead.*
