Two Negrenses drowned in Kabankalan City and Silay City, Negros Occidental, on December 9 and 10.
A 60-year-old farmer from Purok 6, Brgy. Tan-awan, Kabankalan, drowned in a river on Saturday night.
The victim brought her carabao to the river and did not return, the police said.
Her children searched for their mother and found her floating in the water. She did not know how to swim, they said.
She was rushed to the Lorenzo Zayco Memorial District Hospital but was declared dead on arrival.
Meanwhile, Renan Ansiano, 22, a resident of Brgy. Zone 3, Talisay City, drowned in a resort in Brgy. Kapitan Ramon, Silay City, Sunday afternoon.
The victim and his friends decided to jump from an improvised deck made of light materials, which is about five meters high.
When the victim jumped, his head allegedly collided with his friend’s causing him to sink in the river.
They were rescued by the lifeguard of the resort and were rushed to the Teresita L. Jalandoni Provincial Hospital but Ansiano was declared dead on arrival.*
