The police have arrested two suspects in the fatal stabbing of a 29-year-old man who was found on the road in Crossing Bolobito-on, Barangay Miranda, Hinigaran, Negros Occidental, in the early hours of Friday, July 11.
Lt. Col. Eduardo Corpuz, Hinigaran Police Chief, identified the victim as Charlie Oliva, a resident of Sitio Kasoy, Barangay Camba-og in Hinigaran.
He was found lifeless at around 12:35 a.m. with a stab wound to his stomach.
Oliva had gone to a nearby store with a relative to buy cigarettes, and the suspects were reportedly drinking alcohol near the area.
A confrontation broke out, which led the suspects to stab the victim, the police said.
Corpuz said that based on initial accounts, the victim may have been mauled by as many as six individuals, but the two arrested suspects later admitted to the stabbing.
Oliva was rushed to the Hinigaran Medical Clinic where he was declared dead.
