Two alleged rebels were killed in an encounter with Philippine Army soldiers in Sitio Pisok, Brgy. Buenavista, Himamaylan City, Negros Occidental, Thursday morning, Aug. 22.
The 94th Infantry Battalion of the Philippine Army encountered about five members of the dismantled Central Negros 2 Komiteng Rehiyon- Negros Cebu Bohol Siquijor, the 3rd Infantry Division said.
Lt. Col. J-jay Javines, 3ID spokesperson, said the encounter occurred after troops responded to reports of the presence of an armed group collecting food in the area.
The encounter lasted five minutes which resulted in the death of a man and woman who remained unidentified, the 3ID reported.
The encounter also resulted in the seizure of two assault rifles and ammunition, the 3ID said.*
