Two boys aged 14 and 15 died when a truck hit them in Mucia, Negros Occidental, at about 3:30 p.m. Thursday, May 15.
The brakes of the truck carrying sugarcane failed on a downhill sharp curve in Purok 9, Barangay Minoyan, causing it to hit a computer shop, PMaj. Sherwin Fernandez, Murcia police chief, said.
The 15-year-old boy was pinned beneath the front of the truck, and the 14-year-old child was thrown on the side of the road on impact, Fernandez said.
The driver identified only as alias Gerry from Bago City surrendered at the Murcia Police Station.*
