Cadiz Mayor Salvador “Bading” Escalante on Tuesday, Dec. 16, said it is too early to discuss politics in reaction to reports that his name is one of several being floated as a likely gubernatorial candidate in 2028.
The other names being floated as gubernatorial bets are Negros Occidental representatives Alfredo Marañon III (2nd District) Javier Miguel Benitez (3rd District) and Jeffrey Ferrer (4th District).
The United Negros Alliance has not been discussing politics, it has not even held a Christmas Party because of the devastation caused by the recent typhoons that hit the province, Escalante, UnegA secretary general, said.
Marañon and Ferrer are also UnegA officials, while Benitez is a member of Love Negros.
Escalante said by 2028 he will be 64 and may retire, but he cannot give a definitive answer on future plans as he has a party to consider.*
