Tomongtong Mangrove Eco-Trail opens bakery, refreshment store

The Tomongtong Mangrove Eco-Trail (TMET) in Barangay Tomongtong E. B. Magalona now has a bakery and refreshment store.

The store managed by the TMET Women Workers’ Association was inaugurated Friday morning, June 28, a press release from EB Magalona said.

TMET is operated and managed by the municipal government. The construction of the bakery and refreshment store was sponsored by Mayor Marvin Malacon, with assistance from the Department of Social Welfare and Development-Sustainable Livelihood Program.

The store, which also sells souvenir items such as shirts and accessories, serves as additional source of livelihood of the members of TMET Women Workers’ Association.

The blessing and inauguration ceremonies were led by Fr. Ernie Larida, parish priest of St. Joseph the Worker Parish, Sangguniang Bayan Member Gelita Parcon, Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Officer-designate Jojo Vargas, Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office head Emy Lyn Hibionada, Municipal Tourism Officer-designate Ma. Teresa Alvarez, and Punong Barangay Haydiginia Bendecion.

Vargas enjoined the women members to take good care of the store so it will last longer and will benefit more clients and visitors.

The bakery and refreshment store is open from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Mondays to Fridays, and from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays, the press release said.*
