TLJPH spearheads NegOcc nat’l family planning month

The Teresita L. Jalandoni Provincial Hospital (TLJPH) is leading the province’s campaign for accessible and quality family planning services in celebration of National Family Planning Month.

This month-long observance highlights the hospital’s commitment to promoting reproductive health and responsible parenthood, a press release from TJLPH said.

Throughout August, TLJPH is offering a wide range of services and activities, including daily “USAPAN” sessions at its Out-Patient Department, OB wards, and labor room to educate clients on family planning options.

The hospital provides various methods, such as natural family planning, oral contraceptives, injectables, IUD insertion, subdermal implants, and surgical procedures like Bilateral Tubal Ligation and vasectomy, the press release said.

A key focus is on adolescent health education is aimed at preventing teenage pregnancy and empowering young people to make informed decisions.

Dr. Marc Franco H. Leong, the lead trainer for the TLJPH-Provincial Health Office (PHO) Family Planning Training Center, emphasized the importance of continuous education for healthcare providers.
“Empowering both clients and service providers with the right information and tools is crucial in addressing the growing demand for responsible family planning,” he said.

The training center, in partnership with the PHO of Negros Occidental, ensures that healthcare professionals are equipped with the latest knowledge and skills to provide safe and effective client-centered services.

Ellen A. Dignadice, TLJPH’s Health Education and Promotion Coordinator, is a driving force behind the hospital’s adolescent health initiatives.

“Education is a powerful tool. By reaching out to the youth with correct and age-appropriate information, we’re helping shape a healthier future generation,” she said.

Lilyn Rojo Apellido, Nurse V at TLJPH, coordinates the hospital’s family planning activities.

“Our aim is to make quality family planning services available to every individual and couple who needs it. It’s not just about population control—it’s about empowering families to make informed and healthy choices,” she said.
