
The death toll from Typhoon “Tino” in Negros Island hit 84, while 39 are missing, the Office of Civil Defense-Negros Island Region reported on Monday, Nov. 10.
It also said 153 residents were injured during they typhoon.
Rep. Emilio Yulo (Neg. Occ., 5th District) appealed to residents with drones to help in the search for the missing in the badly hit 5th District of Negros Occidental.
Search and rescue dogs and drones were being used to locate the missing in Isabela and other parts of the 5th District, he said.
Three K9 teams have been deployed, Yulo said.
There could be about 60 people still missing in the 5th District, he said, pointing out that poor communication from remote areas has hampered their gathering of exact figures.
Office of Civil Defense (OCD) Negros Island Region Director Donato Sermeno said in Negros Occidental the dead in Moises Padilla were 14, La Castellana – 10, Hinigaran – 9, Bago City – 7, Isabela -6, Binalbagan – 6, San Carlos – 3, La Carlota City – 3, Murcia -2, Himamaylan City – 1, Ilog – 1 and Pontevedra – 1.
But Semeno said that Ilog is claiming that it has no casualty.
The missing in La Castellana were 16, La Carlota City – 6, Isabela – 6, Bago City – 4, and San Carlos City – 2, the OCD report added.
Meanwhile, the dead in Negros Oriental were 21 with 20 in Canlaon City and 1 in Vallehermoso, the OCD reported.
Five were also reported missing in Canlaon City.*
