Negrense senatorial candidate Luke Espiritu on Sunday, March 6, called on the public to thwart the return of what he called “the evil axis of Marcos and Duterte” in the May polls.
Espiritu, who is running under the Partido Lakas ng Masa with fellow labor leader Leody de Guzman as standard-bearer, said he is very happy to have met members of the different sectors in Bacolod who are united in that fight to prevent “the return of the darkest age in our nation’s history.”
He also met with the Bacolod priests because they are one in the fight against the return of the Marcos years and what it represents, said Espiritu, who is a lawyer.
“Marcos Jr. brings with him a certain system of governance which does not respect human rights… What they represent is the worse form where power is almost absolute, ” he said.
Espiritu studied grade school in La Salle Bacolod, was a catechist, entered the Salesian Seminary, and finished law at the Ateneo de Manila.
His late father Renecio Espiritu was the lawyer of massacre victims and assisted Bishop Antonio Y. Fortich in defending victims of Martial Law.*
