
Three more shooting incidents were reported in Negros Occidental during the weekend.
In Manapla, Marlon Castro, 51, was shot in his house at Hda. Fidel, Brgy. Tortosa in Manapla on Saturday, July 9.
The suspect fired his gun from outside the house of the victim, who sustained gunshot wounds to his thigh.
The gunman fled while the victim was brought to Ikaayong Lawas Hospital at Victorias City.
The motive of the incident has yet to be established.
In Hinigaran, a commotion at a wake led to shooting and stabbing incidents at Sitio Ubay, Barangay Pilar Saturday night.
The injured victims were identified as Marjun Garganta and Daryl Dionillo.
Suspect Marlon Garganta, who was said to be under the influence of intoxicating liquor, confronted Dionelio’s cousin which led to a heated argument.
The suspect was brought home after he was struck on the head with a beer bottle. But he returned to the area, with brothers Marjun and Mark Garganta, police said.
Marlon then stabbed the victim Dionillo in the stomach. The victim was also hit on the head with a steel pipe by Mark.
Suspect Boyet Villa shot Marjun with an unknown firearm, hitting him on his left leg.
The Garganta brothers were arrested while Villa fled after the incident.
In San Carlos City, 41-year-old Roberto Agbay Jr. was shot at Brgy. Rizal on Sunday, July 10.
Investigation showed that Agbay was standing on the side of the highway when the suspect approached to ask for the P1,000 speaker box he pawned to him.
The suspect then punched the victim who retaliated. This prompted the suspect to grab his .38 caliber revolver and shoot the victim, who sustained wound on his stomach.
The victim is now confined at the San Carlos City Hospital, while the suspect fled.*
