Thieves strike again, hamper fire response

The two batteries were stolen from this Amity tanker.*

Two batteries of an Amity Volunteer Fire Brigade tanker were stolen on Thursday, which will hamper the response of their volunteers should a big fire occur, Crispin Chua, Amity Club corporate secretary, said Friday, November 11.

The tanker was parked behind their firehouse at Hilado Street when the batteries estimated to cost about P22,000 were stolen, he said.

Chua is appealing to anyone who has information regarding the batteries to call 433- 3244 or 09189023568.

He said the first time the batteries of the same tanker were stolen three months ago the buyer returned them to Amity, but six days after they were stolen again.

The latest theft took place on Thursday. The thieves destroyed the battery cage and lock, Chua said.

Chua believes that the same persons are responsible for the latest theft, and he hopes that they are conscience stricken because they are hampering the work of firefighters.*
