A 50-year-old man was hacked to death allegedly by his nephew inside their home in Sipalay City, Negros Occidental, early Monday morning, Aug. 3.
Police identified the victim only as “Rex,” a therapist, and the suspect as alias “Orlando,” 37, a farmer.
The Sipalay Component City Police Station said the incident happened at around 1:55 a.m. in Purok Balatong, Brgy. Gil Montilla.
According to the victim’s father, the victim was seated on a wooden chair when the suspect, who was allegedly under the influence of liquor, entered the house.
The suspect reportedly confronted the victim over his belief that the victim had repeatedly physically abused the suspect’s mother.
Police said the suspect went outside after the confrontation but returned minutes later carrying a bolo.
He allegedly hacked the victim on the left side of the neck before fleeing.
The victim was brought by the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office to the Sipalay City Primary Care Facility, where he was declared dead.
Police launched a pursuit operation to locate and arrest the suspect.*
