Teen dies in Cauayan road crash

A 16-year-old boy died while another man was injured after their motorcycle crashed into a road sign at Purok 4, Brgy. Isio, Cauayan, Negros Occidental, late Thursday night, Dec. 4.

The police identified the fatality only as “John”, a resident of Sitio Panas-an, while the driver, “Jerry,” 25, of Sitio Tayama-an, also in Brgy. Isio, is recuperating at the Cauayan District Hospital.

The Cauayan police said the crash happened at around 11 p.m. when the two were traveling from Brgy. Poblacion toward Brgy. Isio on a black Kawasaki Barako II motorcycle reportedly without proper documents.

Upon reaching the area near a bakeshop, the driver accidentally hit a road sign, causing both riders to fall off the vehicle.

Rescuers rushed the victims to the hospital, but the teenager was declared dead.

The driver sustained injuries and remains under medical care.*
