The Team Asenso Bacolod lineup for the 2025 midterm elections is ready, Councilor Al Victor Espino said on Tuesday, Sept. 24.
Bacolod Mayor Alfredo Abelardo Benitez, who heads Asenso Bacolod, will announce next week who their candidates for the various posts will be, Espino said.
Espino would not say if Benitez would remain as mayor or run for congressman of Bacolod City.
The filing of Certificates of Candidacy (COCs) for the 2025 midterm polls will be from Oct. 1 to 8.
Benitez met with the Asenso Bacolod members in Manila on Friday.
Ten out of 12 incumbent councilors will seek reelection under Team Asenso, Espino said.
The 10 are Espino, Jude Thaddeus Sayson, Israel Salanga, Em Ang, Vladimir Gonzalez, Jason Villarosa, Claudio Jesus Puentevella, Simplicia Z. Distrito, Celia Flor and Psyche Marie Sy, unless one of them is chosen to run as vice mayor.
Councilors Cindy Rojas and Renecito Novero are on their third and last terms.
Espino said the results of the Asenso Bacolod convention to elect the two additional councilor candidates of their party has not been announced yet.
“I has not been determined yet if the results will be nullified or accepted”, he said.
Benitez earlier said an investigation on the election was being conducted.*
