A holdup suspect was killed while his companion was arrested after attempting to rob a 74-year-old taxi driver in Brgy. 40, Bacolod City, on Monday night, March 2.

Police identified the victim as alias “Gil”, a resident of Brgy. Villamonte.

The two suspects boarded the taxi in downtown Bacolod and declared a hold-up near Lupit Church along Roxas Street at around 7 p.m. , the police said.

The suspects were reportedly armed with a bladed weapon and a firearm.

His companion, alias “Benjie,” 31, and reportedly a truck helper from Calatrava, was arrested and sustained minor injuries.

The taxi driver and the wounded police officer were also brought to a hospital for medical treatment.

Recovered items from the scene are being inventoried as part of the ongoing investigation.
