A talk about Papa Isio, Babaylanes, and Aswang stories in Negros will be held at Sea Breeze Hotel in Bacolod City, 3 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 25.
The event called “Mga Buhi nga Kalag: Uncovering the Stories of the Undying Souls of Negros” is a gathering where discussion about Negrense revolutionary Dionisio Magbuela or Papa Isio will be held together with other local myths and the Babaylanes culture.
This event, organized by Visayan history outreach group Bibliotikal, will be a two-part program to discuss the spectres of Papa Isio and the Babaylanes in local history and the many supernatural stories of aswangs in the province.
It will also be highlighted by a storytelling night on local encounters with the aswangs.
Bibliotikal, in a statement, said it aims to promote Visayan history research by organizing free academic and artistic fora for discussions on Visayan history, culture, linguistics, gastronomy, art, etc., and compiling historical materials and resources for free online access.
The event will be open to the public for free.*
