The Commission on Elections has lifted the suspension of proclamation order versus a winning kagawad of EB Magalona town in Negros Occidental, Provincial Elections Supervisor Ian Lee Ananoria said on Friday, January 5.

The suspension of proclamation of Barangay Kagawad Jose Rio Bisagar of Barangay Tabigue, EB Magalona, was lifted on December 15 and he was proclaimed a winning kagawad the next day, Ananoria said.

His proclamation was suspended because of a complaint for premature campaigning, which is still pending resolution.

Ananoria said the COMELEC Law Department has also asked his office to investigate two vote buying complaints, which he cannot comment on yet.

He is expecting more cases to be investigated because there were a lot of complaints that were filed during the barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections last year.

Meanwhile, voter’s registration will resume in February until September this year, he said.

That is because the filing of certificates of candidacy for the 2025 midyear elections will be held in October, he said.

He urged the public to register early to avoid the last minute rush.*
