Sugarcane farm worker stabbed in Silay: PNP

A sugarcane farm worker died after he was stabbed allegedly by his father-in-law in Hacienda Camel, Brgy. E. Lopez, Silay City, Negros Occidental, 11:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 22.

The police said alias “Ruben”, 39, died after he was stabbed by his father-in-law, alias “Alex”, 52.

Police investigation revealed that the victim was causing alarm and scandal due to alcohol intoxication and was approached by the suspect to pacify him.

However, the victim grabbed a machete and followed the suspect to his house.

He began to hack the suspect’s house in an attempt to destroy it and the suspect retaliated by stabbing through the door with a bolo hitting the victim.

It caused critical injuries to the victim and who was rushed to the Teresita Lopez Jalandoni Provincial Hospital but he was declared dead on arrival.

The suspect voluntarily surrendered to a barangay tanod and was turned over to the Silay Police Station.*
