Star-studded Kadalag-an Festival set, 12 vying for Sidlak Kadalag-an Queen

The 27th Kadalag-an Festival of Victorias City in Negros Occidental from March 19 to 23 will bring an exciting mix of sports, music and star-studded performances to make it the brightest and most vibrant, Mayor Javier Miguel Benitez said on Wednesday, March 5.

Benitez, with Vice Mayor Abelardo Bantug III, led the launching of the festival and the presentation of the 12 Sidlak Kadalag-an Queen candidates at the Ayala Malls Capitol Central activity center in Bacolod City Wednesday afternoon.

New at this year’s festival is a midnight victory run and fireworks salubong on March 20, the eve of Victorias’ charter day, Benitez said.

For the first time in the Kadalag-an Festival history, the midnight victory run will bring together runners, fitness enthusiasts, and festivalgoers for an exhilarating countdown to the much-awaited charter day on March 21, he said.

The Sidlak Music Festival will also take center stage as one of the grandest musical events on March 22.

The Sidlak Music Festival hosts will be Wacky Kiray and Alexa Miro, and the performers will be actor comedian Nico Antonio, the king of soulful OPM Michael Pangilinan, Zack Tabudlo, JM and Fyang, and Imago.

Itchyworms will also hold a kickoff concert on March 19.

The Sidlak Kadalag-an Queen coronation night on March 21 will be hosted by KC Montero and Pauline Amelinckx with special performances by Sam Concepcion and Piolo Pascual.

The 12 contestants are Natasha Francinn Myles Soriano, Kristine Claire Catapang, Rrushane Flor Dequito, Anya Jezella Arnaez, Amie Liza, Noor Tarek Hammoud, Christine Jean Inao, Princess Raiza Mae Dazo, Sherilou Ann Generales, Ginel Apolinario, Gianne Precess Boyero and Juliana Rose Penetrante.*
