The blessing of the new St. Francis Xavier Cathedral in Kabankalan City was held Thursday, September 8.
The blessing was officiated by Kabankalan Bishop Louie Galbines, Bacolod Bishop Patricio Buzon, and Dumaguete Bishop Julito Cortez.
Negros Occidental Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson said it was a celebration of community, and not just of the physical building.
“Today is a testament that dreaming big, especially when circumstances are formidable, is truly an act of faith,” he said.
“Today’s gathering to invoke God’s blessing upon his magnificent new church, also signifies the indomitable spirit, enduring hope, and unwavering faith of the people of this parish,” he added.
Also at the blessing were Rep. Mercedes Alvarez (Neg. Occ., 6th District) Rep. Emilio Yulo III (Neg. Occ., 5th District), Board Member Jeffrey Tubola, Kabankalan City Mayor Benjie Miranda and Vice Mayor Miguel Zayco, former Mayor Pedro Zayco, La Castellana Mayor Rhumyla Mangilimutan, and Himamaylan City Vice Mayor Justin Gatuslao.*
