Social Security System officials served Show Cause Orders to non-compliant employers in Bacolod City on Thursday, July 4, as part of the SSS Run After Contribution Evaders (RACE) campaign.

The SSS Bacolod and Bacolod East branches have listed 1,911 employers under their jurisdictions with P81 million in contribution delinquencies, some of whom have already paid their obligations.

SSS officials led by Lilani Benedian, SSS vice president for Visayas West 1 Division, said they served Show Cause Orders to five of six delinquent employers under the SSS Bacolod East Branch on Thursday, and more will be served on Friday.

SSS is serious in its mandate to provide social protection to employees, Benedian said.

Not remitting SSS contributions is just one of the violations, she said. They are also going after employers with underpayments, wherein they do not pay the true monthly salary credits of their employees, and under report the number of their workers, she said.

Also tagged as violators are persons who have failed to register their businesses and employees with the SSS, Benedian said.

They are implementing RACE to remind employers of their obligations under Republic Act 11199 or the Social Security Act of 2018, she said.

RACE is their way of intensifying their campaign for SSS coverage and collection, she said, adding that delinquent employers can pay what they owe on installment.

The SSS officials visited six employers with delinquent contributions on Thursday but were only able to serve Show Cause Orders to five as one establishment was closed, Benedian said.

Emilia Solinap, SSS Bacolod East Branch head, said the six employers owe P5.8 million in contributions for 196 employers.

There are 139 delinquent employers covered by the Bacolod East Branch who owe P39.9 million in SSS contributions, Solinap said.

Ma. Sheila Galeno Bacolod Branch head, said there were 1,772 delinquent employers who owed P42 million in contributions, and so far they have been able to collect P34.09 million. The branch covers Bacolod, Talisay and Silay cities, Employers must pay the SSS premiums of their employees regularly so they can avail of the benefits due them, Benedian said.

Employees cannot avail of maternity and sickness benefits and loans if their employers are delinquent payers, she said.*
