SSS inks MOAs with Bacolod brgys for coverage of JO, COS workers

The Social Security System (SSS) Bacolod Branch successfully gained a partnership with another Bacolod City barangay.

SSS Bacolod Assistant Branch head Gerard Gonzales and Brgy. Captain Rosinie Distrito of Brgy. Singcang Airport signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) for the social security protection of the local government unit’s (LGU) job order (JO) and contract of service (COS) workers on March 31, a press release from the SSS said Tuesday, April 11.

Under the agreement, JOs/COS workers in the barangay who are not covered by the Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) benefits will be registered as self-employed members of SSS. The barangay will remit regularly their SSS contribution through a salary deduction scheme.

“We believe that forging partnerships with barangays is one of many effective and possible ways to bring SSS closer to our members. May their full support for these programs also reach other LGUs and encourage them to join us in providing SSS services to their respective local communities,” SSS Bacolod Branch Head Sheila Galeno said.

Barangay Taculing Captain Lady Gless Pallen also entered into the same agreement with the SSS for the coverage of their JO workers and launched their E-center sa Barangay on March 21.

E-Center sa Barangay is part of the pension fund’s digitalization efforts which partnership with LGU will help bring SSS digital services to local stakeholders. SSS Bacolod shall train barangay personnel who will assist members on how to do online transactions through their My.SSS accounts while computers and internet access will be provided by the barangay, the press release said.

SSS Bacolod Branch has already launched E-centers in seven barangays – Singcang-Airport and Taculing in Bacolod City and Dos Hermanas, Katilingban, Balaring, San Fernando, and Zone 14 in Talisay City.

The branch also managed to sign four MOAs for social security coverage of JO and COS workers in barangays 10, Taculing, and Singcang in Bacolod City and Brgy. Zone 10 in Talisay City, Negros Occidental.

Interested barangays may contact SSS Bacolod at 435-2797 to 98 or via email at bacolod@sss.gov.ph, the press release said.*
