The Sangguniang Panlungsod is urging IPM Construction and Development Corporation (IPM-CDC) to immediately address the continuing problem of uncollected garbage and typhoon debris in several barangays in Bacolod City and to strictly observe its regular garbage collection schedules, especially during the Christmas and New Year holidays.
The Bacolod SP approved resolution authored by Councilor Caesar Distrito was prompted by repeated complaints from residents regarding missed and irregular garbage collection for more than a month.
This has resulted in accumulated waste in streets and public areas, posing health and sanitation risks and affecting the cleanliness and image of the city, he said.
“This resolution sends a clear message that prolonged missed collections will not be tolerated,” Distrito said.
“Uncollected garbage endangers public health and the well-being of our communities. With the Christmas season upon us and waste volumes expected to increase, IPM must strictly follow its collection schedules and immediately deploy additional resources to keep Bacolod clean and safe”, he added.
The resolution requests IPM-CDC to deploy additional personnel, garbage trucks, and equipment to clear the backlog of uncollected waste and typhoon debris, and to ensure consistent, timely, and uninterrupted implementation of its contractual obligations with the city government.
It also directs IPM-CDC to submit a Corrective Action and Operations Plan to the Sangguniang Panlungsod and the Bacolod Environment and Natural Resources Office (BENRO), outlining its deployment strategy and collection routes during the holiday season, with copies of the resolution furnished to the mayor and concerned offices for appropriate action.*
