The Bacolod Sangguniang Panlungsod passed a resolution on Wednesday, Nov. 13, directing the Bacolod Traffic and Transport Management Department to study the feasibility of requiring all trucks, large vehicles and heavy equipment to exclusively use the new Bacolod-Negros Occidental Economic Highway (BANOCEH), Councilor Al Victor Espino said.

The study will also determine the possibility of restricting such vehicles from traversing the Circumferential Road.

The study will be used as the basis for the passage of a city ordinance, Espino said.

Meanwhile, Councilor Jason Villarosa has proposed an ordinance requiring the registration of remotely piloted aircraft systems (RPAS), otherwise known as drones, within Bacolod.

The ordinance also seeks to declare some areas as no-fly zones and provides penalties for violations.

It was approved on first reading, Espino said.

The SP also approved the request of Bacolod Mayor Alfredo Abelardo Benitez for the realignment of P525 million intended for the improvement of the Burgos market for the use of five other city projects, Espino said.

Benitez on Monday said P10 million will be used for the construction of a 1 hectare animal shelter in Barangay Granada.

Additional funds will also be allocated for the completion of the following ongoing projects: legislative building – P250 million, city hall at Araneta Street – P190M, City Health Complex – P60 million and Tree Park in Barangay Alangilan – P15 million, he said.*
