SP calls on Baciwa to study minimum charge suspension

The Bacolod City Sangguniang Panlungsod approved on Thursday, March 14, a resolution requesting the Bacolod City Water District (BACIWA)-Primewater to study the possible suspension of the minimum charge to consumers with zero consumption.

The resolution calls on the board of directors of BACIWA-Primewater to study the possible suspension of the minimum charge.

The resolution, authored by Councilor Claudio Jesus Raymundo Puentevella, said that the request is made due to the shortage of water supply in Bacolod that has worsened with the El Niño drought.

It stated that the drought and dry spell caused by the El Niño greatly affects freshwater sources and water supply affecting many households with zero water supply.*
