The Bacolod Sangguniang Panlungsod in a special session on Monday, Oct. 28, approved the extension of the MassKara Festival food kiosks’ operations at the Bacolod Public Plaza until Thursday, Councilor Jason Villarosa said.

Also approved were substitute sites and partial road closures for vendors who have been granted permits to sell flowers starting Tuesday until Nov. 2 for All Saints and Souls’ Days.

The alternative sites for the flower vendors were contained in a proposal submitted by City Administrator Lucille Gelvolea.

With the extended period granted for the MassKara Food Kiosks tenants at the public plaza, flower vendors who have already secured special permits for this year’s All Saints and Souls’ Days may not be able to utilize their usual locations at the San Juan and Gonzaga sides of our public plaza, Gelvolea said in her proposal.

Councilor Celia Flor said areas at Araneta and Gatuslao streets, approved by the SP, will be allotted for the vendors to sell their flowers.

The MassKara Festival kiosks at the Upper East and the Bacolod Government Center will also allowed to operate until Thursday.

Bacolod City Mayor Alfredo Abelardo Benitez on Saturday announced the extension of the MassKara Festival to Thursday to aid kiosk tenants affected by the heavy rains bought on severe tropical storm “Kristine” and to give revelers more time to enjoy the festivities.

The festival that started on Oct. 11 was supposed to end on Sunday, October 27
The mayor also announced that he is personally donating P2.5 million in food vouchers to aid kiosk tenants, especially at the Bacolod Public Plaza.

The section of Lacson Street that was a designated festival site was cleared of stages and kiosks and reopened to traffic on Monday.*
