A 36-year-old corporal was allegedly shot dead by a colleague during a drinking session at a birthday party at their detachment in Sitio Barasbarasan, Barangay Manlucahoc, Sipalay City, Negros Occidental, on Monday night, Nov. 25.
Killed was Cpl. Arnold Sumaribus, 36, of Iloilo City, who was shot by SSgt. Charlemagne Nabejet, 43, of, Lanao Del Norte. Both were assigned at Charlie Company of the 15th Infantry Battalion.
A misunderstanding ensued causing them to grapple with each other on the ground, and the suspect then drew his firearm and shot the victim hitting his left arm and chest, the police reported.
The victim was brought to the Sipalay City Infirmary but was declared dead, while the suspect was held at their detachment and disarmed.*
