A Philippine Army soldier died when his motorcycle collided with a Ceres bus at Crossing Ambus in Brgy. Manalad, Ilog, Negros Occidental, on Saturday, July 6.
The victim was Private First Class John Leo Saldua, 33, of the 15th Infantry Battalion and a resident of Purok Riverside, Brgy. Napoles, Bago City.
The Ceres bus was driven by Ryan Miraveles, 32, a resident of Brgy. Dancalan Ilog.
The bus was traveling from Cauayan to Bacolod City when the motorcycle driven by Saldua overtook a tricycle and collided with the bus.
The collision resulted in the Saldua’s head being slammed into the bus’s windshield and dragged for about 10 meters.
Saldua’s head was severely injured while his left leg was detached due to the accident.
He was brought to Lorenzo D. Zayco District Hospital but was declared dead, while the Ceres bus driver voluntarily surrendered to the police.
Miraveles is now under police custody.*
