The slain Muslim leader and businessman had been receiving death threats prior to his death on Tuesday night, February 1, at the parking lot of the Victorias City Hall in Barangay 4, Victorias City.

Iksan Umpar, the Muslim community president in the city, was gunned down by a lone assailant while in his parked vehicle with his wife, who was unhurt.

Lt. Col. Joseph Fajardo Jr., city police chief, said the victim got death threats last week from his opponents in a card game.

He said that the victim had played poker in Bacolod City, though the police have yet to determine where and who was with him at that time.

The Muslim community is calling for justice for his death.*
