The Negros Occidental provincial government, in collaboration with the Philippine Army and the Association of Negros Producers (ANP), recently conducted a crucial skills training workshop as part of the “Balik Salig: A Sustained Skills and Entrepreneurial Intervention Program.”
The workshop on July 5 focused on empowering People’s Organizations under the 15th Infantry “Molave” Battalion.
More than 20 organizations participated, with their official representatives and officers gaining vital knowledge in financial literacy, project proposal development, and good governance for effective project implementation and sustainment.
The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE)-Negros Occidental representatives provided lectures on organizational registration and oriented participants on their programs and services. These offerings are designed to support the livelihood development of grassroots farmers, fisherfolk, and workers’ associations.
“This training is a vital step in empowering the People’s Organizations to effectively manage their resources and achieve their development goals,” Sybel Nobleza, ANP External Affairs head, said.
“By strengthening their capacity in these key areas, we aim to contribute to their long-term sustainability and success with relevant and active support from the Local Chief Executive of the Municipality of Cauayan under the Retooled Community Support Program”, she said.
Lt. Col. Elmar Salvador, 15th IB commander, emphasized the importance of the initiative.
“Empowering the community through the people’s organization will surely make them strong and resilient. Let’s continue working together to help them attain a sustainable livelihood towards lasting peace and development”, he said.
The Balik Salig program highlights the ongoing commitment of the Negros Occidental provincial government, the Philippine Army, and the Association of Negros Producers to fostering community development and economic growth across Negros Occidental.*
