Sipalay, Hinoba-an suspend classes, alert up for rain as ‘Isang’ hits Luzon

The Negros Occidental Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office (PDRRMO) is on heightened alert for rain brought on by the Southwest Monsoon and enhanced by Tropical Depression “Isang”.

Flooding was reported in San Enrique and Valladolid on Friday, August 22, but the water subsided soon after, Irene Bel Ploteña, PDRRMO head, said.

Face to-face classes in Hinoba-an and Sipalay City were also cancelled  on Friday due to heavy rain.

Signal No. 1 was still  hoisted in Northern Luzon areas  “Isang” crossed Quirino province, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said in its 5 p.m. bulletin Friday.

The enhanced southwest monsoon will  continue to bring strong to gale-force gusts across Zambales, Bataan, Metro Manila, Calabarzon, Mimaropa, Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur, Catanduanes, Burias Island, Western Visayas, Negros Island Region, Central Visayas, Dinagat Islands, Southern Leyte, Surigao del Norte, and Camiguin, it said.*
