Sipalay Barongoy Fishtival grill for a cause opens

The Barongoy Fishtival – Grill for a Cause, which is part of the celebration of the 21st Charter Anniversary of Sipalay City, opened Monday, March 21.

During the previous festival, organizers line up grillers and tables where free “barongoy” or flying fish was given to the community to grill and eat together, a Sipalay City government press release said Tuesday.

However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, a fisherfolk organization was given funds to operate the event along the beach in Barangay 2, Sipalay City.

Part of the profit will be directed to help those affected by Typhoon Odette and to repair the equipment of the organization damaged by the typhoon.

The grill for a cause is located at Pana-on, Brgy. 2, and is open from 4:30 p.m. to 10 p.m., the press release said.

For P200, visitors can enjoy a kilo of fresh barongoy for grilling with four cups of rice, it said.*
