The Bacolod City Emergency Operations Center (EOC) expects to begin the vaccination of residents who fall under the A4 category by the end of the week, City Administrator Em Ang said Tuesday, May 18.

A4 covers frontline personnel in essential sectors, including uniformed personnel, she said.

Bacolod City and Negros Occidental received 3,000 doses of Sinovac vaccines each on Tuesday.

The city government is currently using Astra Zeneca vaccines for the mass vaccination of healthcare workers, seniors and persons with medical conditions, said Ang, who is also EOC executive director.

There were 3,079 Bacolod residents who were vaccinated Tuesday, Ang said.

Vaccinated at the Ayala Malls Capitol Central were 694 persons, SMX Convention Center – 421, Mansilingan – 249, Montevista – 386, Andres Bonifacio Elementary School – 178, Alijis – 121, Estefania – 166, Education and Training Center School – 55, Tangub – 88, Bata – 140, Banago – 72, Taculing – 366 and Singcang – 143.

She said they expect to use up all their AstraZeneca vaccines this week and start with their Sinovac supply.

Negros Occidental is also fast tracking its AstraZeneca vaccination, Dr. Jessica Fama, medical specialist 3 of the Provincial Health Office, said.

She said more than 23,700 have been vaccinated against COVID-19 in Negros Occidental as of May 17.

Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson noted that the COVID-19 cases in Negros Occidental are going down.

Negros Occidental had 1,443 active COVID-19 cases on Tuesday from 1,589 on Monday.

It also only had three local government units with triple-digit COVID-19 cases.

They are San Carlos Cty with 147, Talisay City -138 and Silay City -129, the Provincial Incident Management Team reported.

“I hope we can continue this downtrend, (but) just the same we still have to follow the minimum health protocols,” Lacson said.*
