Silent protest held at LTFRB to call for franchise renewal

Members of the  United Negros Transport Coalition staged a  silent protest to press for the renewal of the franchises of their traditional jeepneys before the   Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board regional office in Iloilo City, Lilian Sembrano, the Kabacod Negros Transport Organization (Knetco) president, said on Monday, Sept.  2.

Knetco along with the   Bacolod Kambyada Manibela, and United Negros Drivers and Operator Center-Pagkakaisa ng mga Samahan ng Tsuper at Operator Nationwide on Monday submitted to the LTFRB the Bacolod Sangguniang Panlungsod resolution in support of the Senate  call for the suspension of the implementation of the Public Transport Modernization Program (PTMP).

The resolution also calls on the Department of Transportation, Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board and the Land Transportation Office to consider their urgent need for renewal of franchise pending final resolution of the PTMP, Sembrano said.

Sembrano said after submitting the resolution and a dialog with the LTFRB regional officials, the resolution was forwarded to the board’s national office.*
