Soroptimist International of Bacolod (SI Bacolod) will celebrate Soroptimist Week from August 25 to 30, following the passage of Bacolod City Resolution No. 904, Series of 2026, which recognizes the invaluable contributions of Soroptimist International and encourages continued public awareness and support for its advocacies.
The resolution also recognizes SI Bacolod’s continuing commitment to women and girls, including its operation of Balay Pasilungan, which provides shelter, protection, and rehabilitation services to abused women and girls and survivors of violence.
In celebration of Soroptimist Week, SI Bacolod has lined up a series of fellowship and community activities.
On August 26, members will hold an early morning walkabout at Megaworld, followed by breakfast and a talk and open forum with Councilor Em Ang.
The group will then visit the SI Bacolod sponsored Child Development Center in Barangay Taculing, where members will share lunch and celebrate the birthday of vice president Zenaida Gozun with parents and the community.
The afternoon will be devoted to Balay Pasilungan, where SI Bacolod members will hold a fellowship activity and give sets of towels to the clients. Snacks will be sponsored by president Myrna Castillo.
The celebration will continue on August 28 with a fellowship activity with SI Bacolod’s adopted purok in Barangay Estefania.
The culminating activities on August 30 will welcome Governor Adelina Rojo, followed by a welcome lunch at Sandok’s.
The celebration will conclude with the Installation of Officers and Induction of New Members at Sugarland Hotel.
Through the celebration of Soroptimist Week, SI Bacolod reaffirms its commitment to improving the lives of women and girls and to continuing its programs and advocacies in partnership with the community and the City of Bacolod.*
