A grueling showdown between NORFA-STI versus NCRFA-FEU ended in a draw, 1-1, for the Philippine Football Federation Under 19 Boys National Championship at the Panaad Park and Stadium in Bacolod City, Thursday, April 23.
Even a goal from NCRFA’s Arvin Alayon in the 42nd minute did not silence the home crowd as the resurgent boys from NORFA were able to defend their turf due to an equalizer from Elijah Ballesteros penalty kick at the half.
Despite being exhausted, both teams remained relentless in their pursuit to stay unbeaten in the Group A stage.
“I was just telling the team to keep pushing cause it’s a must win for us,” said NORFA head coach Ian Combate.
NCRFA team manager Albert Besa commended efforts of both teams while recognizing some lapses that his team need to address in reasserting their dominance in the next match against Masbate RFA, 5 p.m. Friday.
On the other hand, the Southeast Luzon team that was able to bounce back from their first match up loss against NORFA did capitalize on their relentless attacks defeating Cordillera RFA, 3-1.
Cordillera RFA still unable to get a victory is still hopeful to win a match against the home team NORFA 7 p.m. Friday.
Team Assistant Head Coach Gatan Dalang assures to give their all out best facing NORFA.
With the heat index rising at 44 degree Celsius may have taken a toll on Cordillera’s booters.
“Iba kasi yung init sa pitch,” says John Calputora, who did recognize their lackluster performance at the pitch.*
