A senior citizen died after she was hit by a motorcycle while crossing the highway in Brgy. Purisima, Manapla, Negros Occidental, Saturday morning, January 20.
The police identified the victim as Edith Madrileño, 61, of Moises Padilla town.
The suspect is Pio Manlungit, 36, a teacher and a resident of Brgy. Malaiba, Canlaon City, Negros Oriental, the police said.
PSMSgt. Ivonne Berja told DIGICAST NEGROS that the victim was on her way to a pharmacy to buy medicine for her sister who was injured after a vehicular accident three days earlier.
Berja said that Manlungit, who is under the custody of the Manapla police, had helped bring the victim to a hospital.
The police said that an initial settlement between both parties has already been reached and no charges will be filed against Manlungit.*
