A senior citizen with hearing problems died after she was hit by a van while trying to cross the road in Brgy. Pandanon Silos, Murcia, Negros Occidental, on Monday, June 23.
Alias “Dako”, 67, was hit by a public utility van driven by alias “Gerome” of San Carlos City, the police said.
Investigation revealed that the driver saw the victim crossing the road and honked at her but she did not hear it.
The driver tried to avoid the victim but Dako suddenly stopped in the middle of the road which resulted in the van hitting her, the police said.
The victim was brought to a hospital where she was declared dead.
The family of the victim have reached a settlement with the driver and will not file a case against him, the police said.*
