A 72-year-old woman died after she was hit by an Emergency Medical Services vehicle while crossing the road in Hacienda Najalinan, Brgy. Robles, La Castellana, on Wednesday, November 19.
Police said the victim was riding a tricycle on her way to the town proper when she asked the driver to stop after seeing her child on the side of the road.
She reportedly got off the tricycle and attempted to cross the street, but the EMS vehicle passing through the area hit her.
The EMS vehicle driven by a man identified only as “Ryan” from Binalbagan had no passengers onboard at the time of the incident.
The victim was brought to the Rural Health Unit but was declared dead.
The victim’s family and the EMS vehicle driver have reached a settlement, the police said.
The driver was released after his 18-hour reglementary detention period lapsed.*
