Senior citizen dies in P1.2M Bago fire

The house destroyed by fire in Bago City.*

A senior citizen suffering from Alzheimer’s disease died in a P1.23 million fire that hit a house in Hacienda Luvina, Purok Malipayon, Brgy. Bacong, Bago City, Negros Occidental, on Thursday, February 29.

Lorenza Buenaflor, 72, who was unable to get out of the house died, the Bureau of Fire Protection-Bago City reported.

Buenaflor was bedridden and her brother-in-law, Ricarido Pabila, who is a person with disability, was with her when the fire broke out.

Pabila, who sustained burns, attempted to rescue Buenaflor but failed because of the smoke and heat.

Buenaflor’s body was recovered after the BFP personnel declared the fire out.

Brgy. Ma-ao BFP Substation Commander SFO3 Rustan Sayson said they are looking at faulty electrical wirings as the cause of the fire.

Destruction to the house was placed at P1,234,560.*
